OpenID world domination

In a shock move that won't be much of a shock to anyone who follows Pouët, we've switched over to OpenID logins. If you're happy using SceneID then nothing much has changed, except that you now fill in your password at sceneid.net rather than here. But if you have moral / technical / religious objections to using SceneID here, just get yourself an OpenID from any other provider (if indeed you don't have one already) and use that instead—and that way you don't have to share a password with me or scene.org at all.

In a nutshell, this development is a way to reduce Demozoo's dependence on scene.org's resources (hardware and manpower) while keeping the obvious "everyone on the scene already has an account" perks of SceneID.

credit where credit's due

Another Rather Important new feature is now ready - entering individual credits on productions. Just click on that handy 'add credit' link, and enter their name and what they did... you don't even need to worry about the other half-a-dozen sceners with the same nick, as it's clever enough to figure out which one you mean based on the group that made the demo. (And if they're not listed as a group member, it'll take care of adding that detail too. It really is that swish.)

Get digging through those .nfo files - the first 30 people to fill in the complete credits for 100 productions can claim a free beer at the next Sundown, Forever, Breakpoint or other beer-compliant party they meet me at. How's that for an incentive?

the big switch-on

Live at Assembly, Demozoo is launching today.

Building on the tireless work done by such sites as scene.org, Pouët, Slengpung and ZXdemo - with more to come soon, hopefully! - Demozoo will build a complete picture of scene activity past and present, with your help.

So — it's time for a roll-call. Take a look at the information we've got down for your group, your friends and yourself, and fill in any gaps that you find. If you see anything horribly wrong, please do point it out using that handy 'Found a mistake?' link. (If you're a member of the elite Pouët glöperator squad, you'll find that your mighty editing powers have transferred to this site as well. Yes, I know you're overworked enough already...)

New features will be appearing over the next days and weeks, starting with the ability to enter individual credits on productions, and the big one: full results from every graphic and music competition ever. Oh yes. The journey has just begun.
