8BBS (eight BBS) was an anything goes computerised bulletin board that ran from March 1980 until mid-1982, when it was busted by the police. It was a popular hangout for phone phreakers, computer phreakers, and was one of the first Scene boards.
The board's name comes from the hardware it ran off, a PDP-8 minicomputer. It was operated by two DEC employees, the company behind the hardware.
A very large collection of its messages were printed to paper for archiving. These printouts were rediscovered decades later and are now on archive.org.
