Another message to my fellow demosceners

Hi, just a follow-up to Defiance's post, which is now, apparently, too hot to be discussed.

Pouet has indeed became the playground of a toxic minority who mistake the demoscene as a battleground for their sacred crusade. It's not "attacking fellow sceners" to call them out, particularly after, apparently, they are free to call others "Nazi shithead" and other friendly eponyms.

These people aren't demosceners. It doesn't matter how talented they are (which isn't even applicable to many) if they have no idea what's the demoscene is all about. Let me help: it's not about politics, petty revenges, bullying, playing nanny and fishing for social score. If you can't keep this shit outside, then stay outside.

I haven't seen what Defiance did, but I'm pretty sure he didn't just "attack another scener" out of blue. For some reason, the aforementioned social crusaders always think what they're doing is perfectly normal, but any backlash is a vile attack on their pristine clean personalities. I would bet a larger sum that Defiance replied to an attack he received.

You can lock this topic and pretend that issue doesn't exist, but it still does. It's past time we talked about it, and most importantly, do something about it.

"I would bet a larger sum that Defiance replied to an attack he received."

This is EXACTLY what I did. And thank you tomcat (and everyone else) for caring, and bringing attention to this. I have been receiving personal attacks, out of the blue, from two members (I name them in the og post) from the admin/mod team of pouet for a very long time now. Enough is enough already. Other people have been threatened by them as well over the years and they didn't reply back out of fear of getting banned.

"I haven't seen what Defiance did."

I haven't done anything else other than confronting them for what THEY did, and keep doing, and how they treat others. As a result I got banned. In fact, I have been helping them for years to fix broken stuff / add credits / etc. to pouet but of course why would any of this matter anyway? The demoscene I knew has nothing to do with what it has become nowadays nor do I accept the path it is going to. It is about time people start to realize what is going on before it is too late. Today it's me, tomorrow who?

"Pouet has indeed became the playground of a toxic minority who mistake the demoscene as a battleground for their sacred crusade."

Not only that but they also love spreading lies and misinformation about other sceners, some rumors that reach my ear are simply outrageous. I will not leave the demoscene in the hands of those people. I respect the majority of sceners (especially old sceners that stood for me / helped me over the years become better at what I do, some of them not around here anymore), but yeah, I will speak up when I see injustice, there is a reason I chose that handle years ago. I myself need time to reflect on all this and I don't wish for this toxicity to continue, things will get better over time for everyone, that I can assure you, in the meantime, as I said, there are other places and sites on the scene that this phenomenon isn't present.

Defiance, over and out.

Apparently, "personal attacks" are frowned upon here, but I'm pretty sure if we were to compile a list, they would be pretty much identical.

And indeed, this isn't a new thing. They do love their rumors and slanders. I'm not really frequenting demoscene-related Facebook groups, but some old friends regularly told me that some so-called "sceners" are spreading sensational rumors about me on a daily basis. They seem to be exceptionally well-informed about every minute detail of my life, back to 20 years ago, and of course, they always have compelling evidence that I am a "Nazi". They do love this word, although I'm sure they couldn't explain what it is. One thing is sure, anything I do or ever have done is a Nazi thing now.

And it goes farther than just idiots being idiots on some website. (Well, it's not just "some website", but let's skip this.) They are actively extending their cancel culture madness on the entire scene.

Around two years ago, there was a certain, not really major demoparty. When it was announced on Instagram, I commented that I might be in that particular country, so I might visit. The main organizer, who is known for his far leftist stance, replied: "You are banned from this party unless you apologize for what you wrote on Pouet!"

At this point I haven't even been on Pouet for ten years. What did I say that pissed them off this badly? Well, I said that gay marriage shouldn't be called marriage, it should be recognized as a civil union. I was immediately called a Nazi, threatened several times, and some proactive leftards suggested a "sceneban" for me, whatever that may be.

I actually couldn't give two fucks to this insignificant party and this leftoid who calls himself a "scener" while he isn't one. But then it happened again, this time at a Hungarian party. The main organizer, who is also known to be a leftist (not to mention another organizer, who is in fact a professional politician, running the local elections) informed me that I am not welcome at their party any more.

Their action is currently under investigation by the Hungarian Commissioner of Human Rights. It's worth knowing that it's illegal to discriminate. Just a friendly note to any other leftard who read this: keep banning me, and I will sue your ass too. The moment you try, you aren't the scene for me. Got it?

I used to be a party organizer myself. I was the main org of FLaG Party, five times. I never banned anyone based on race, religion, sexual orientation, opinions or anything, really. I am not visiting demoscene parties to express my dislike towards those who, well, aren't like me. I expect to be tolerated the same way. This is not a political club.

I'd describe myself as a socialist (I try not to use the term leftist or any other term 'The Message' is trying to force on us nowadays) mostly due to my family's roots, but I do have of course my own views on various subjects without being affected by ideology alone. Banning someone because of their views though is unacceptable for me even if said views are conservative, etc. I don't know what the law is on other countries but 'profilling' without consent here in Greece is definitely illegal. The demoscene is a very small community and we should promote unity versus toxic division. Any scene should definitely be all-inclusive and the demoscene shouldn't be an exception to this.

Demozoo is not the overflow valve for Pouet drama.
