Demoscene productions on vinyl records and licensing issues

Hello

I love demo soundtracks, especially 8-bit sounds, which are really fascinating. I'm involved in museum work, and I got the idea to produce a small edition of demo soundtracks on vinyl records. I was wondering if that would be possible? The quantity would be about a hundred copies.

I think it would be great to listen to them on vinyl records, and customers could get them from the museum.

The easy answer would be to contact the creators. But some demos may be over 30 years old. Often, it is not known who the people behind the works are, because they use pseudonyms.

Thanks,

Usually, it should be no problem whatsoever to find out who did the soundtracks and reach out to these people through scene connections. I suppose most would be flattered to appear on vinyl, but most definitely they would like to be asked beforehand. In order to reach these people, a first step would be coming to our discord server (see the link on the bottom of this page), we have some people around who are knowledgible and well-connected when it comes to scene music. It would help if you already would have specific tunes/people in mind.

Also, see https://www.discogs.com/release/27693318-Various-Amiga-Demoscene-EP for a recent similar project.
