Considering how to best handle music conversions

When dealing with music conversions which is better:

Having a single page for the mod and, if available, links to the modules for different platforms?

Or to have a page for each version?

I was thinking if a module is completely unchanged but played back on a different system it should use the original page for the mod. "Bitplane Ballet" from Triad does this. This makes sense.

When it comes to conversions where modifications, such as truncating samples so the mod can fit in the limited RAM and/or using SNES specific features, perhaps it should have a separate page because now there may be subtle (or very obvious) differences from the original.

When creating a separate page is there a sensible way to link back to the page for the original mod?

Is what I've described best practice? Have I overlooked other considerations?

Am I overthinking this?
Am I an android?
do I dream of electric sheep or analog sheep?

I'd say if it's been modified so that it sounds different in any way, it's a different thing. We also do this for instance for different versions of the same music on the same platform, like for example if something is a compo edit and there's a longer edit, then those are not the same.

Of course, if something is just replayed on a different platform, like the example you mentioned, or for something like The 100 Most Remembered 64 Game-Tunes that replays c64 music on the Amiga, then that'd just be linking to the original music.
