[CPC, EGX1 graphics mode (per line change between mode 0 and mode 1), Overscan _ Steps and original drawing in the 7z file]

A few years ago I was exercising at classicistic drawing and one of my choices was the head of that (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artemision_Bronze) iconic bronze statue. After finishing a good number of drawings my brain warned me that it was about to explode unless I did something about it. So, I went berserk at the statue’s head, even using inks and markers to avoid getting into any ‘let’s make some corrections’ mood. I wanted the result to be raw and exciting much like my mood was at the point.

Years passed and that idea to bring that drawing to the screen seemed interesting. The small resolution posed a challenge on its own, as I’d have to settle with losing most of the volumes of the organic, expressive drawing. During the process I decided to stylize parts of the image so as to make them seem more sensible within a pixel illustration but at the same time I felt I needed to try and retain the raw feeling of the conversion on other parts.

I went on with changing/moving certain parts (especially the fingers, as they had to serve as a reason for turning the image to landscape). Up to that point I was working the image in mode 1 (high resolution but only 4 colours; albeit freely used, similar to CGA), as the fat pixels of the more colourful (16) mode 0 ironed out most of the details of the drawing; and I wanted those to stay! At some point though, I decided to try EGX1, a non-standard mode that allows the change of the resolution with every line. Real pixels and real colours without any flickering or colour clashing issues. And there we go!
