The Not! Newsletter was a combination of articles covering contemporary computer hardware, PC game reviews, interviews, BBS ads, and finally Not! group news. The Not! group did cracks, cheats, editors, and the Shivalingam BBS software.
In an interview with Not! #4, Mad Fishmonger states he and Dragon Keeper formed Not! in 1990 as a general purpose programming (PC) group. In the same issue, Dragon Keeper added the group started in September 1990, in the 817 (Western Texas) region.
Dragon Keeper in Not! #5 mentions they briefly had a virus writing section that was shutdown after it was not "widely accepted". Afterwards they started working on their Newsletter magazines. The first Newsletter was an ANSI magazine created in collaboration with Fish. The second issue was a MCGA (proto-VGA graphics) magazine. The third was unreleased.
