Monarch was a BBS platform for the PC from the late 1980s with at least two major versions. It seems to be originally authored by Gunship before being co-collaborated, and later taken over by The Organ Grinder.

The v1.0 release saw Gunship opening with, Monarch like many other BBSs like Emulex, FCP, Syspc, Shotgun, Spectrum, and more is a spawn from Forum. Forum is really responsible for alot of the backbone features that we consider now standard. Forum does not have alot of the things we really need to have though. That is why we have had the birth of alot of these off shoots. Monarch was not written to compete with any of the BBSs mentions above it was primarly written for myself as a hobby since I enjoy programming and that happens to be my profession. I have had a number of requests for Monarch so that is the reason for it's release.

Version 2.2 seems to have been taken over by The Enforcer of The Underground BBS.

Monarch/2 v1.0 was released by The Games Master, also of The Underground BBS.
