This track has a story to it. In Fnuque, we have this banner, that we made/painted back in 1997. We bring it to all the parties we attend. At Solskogen 2010, we forgot the banner and left it on the wall when we left. Sure it would be gone forever, but I wrote on Pouet and asked, if anyone had seen it and saved it from ending up in the trash. Nobody replied. Then suddenly, Gargaj posted a link to this edited newspaper-article, claiming that the banner had been retrieved and was now being held hostage by kidnappers. The ransom would be for us to pick it up at Function the same year. Fortunately, Blueberry went there and retrieved the banner for us, but at that point, an idea was forming. The banner had been kidnapped. Gargaj always wore a bandana, like pirates do, and the group he's in is called ConsPIRACY. I then decided to compose a pirate'ish theme, dress up as a pirate and fight a fierce battle on swords against Gargaj, to make it clear, that the banner was to be retrieved by force. At Kindergarden 2010, the track was ready, I had prepared a costume and two huge plastic swords, that were a bitch packing into the suitcase. Just before the compo, I went and put on all the face-paint and the costume, which consisted of old clothes, a pair of rubber-boots, turned inside out on the sleeves, a bandana, earring and of course an eye patch. I then went to the back of the scene and hid behind the bigscreen and waited. And waited and waited and waited. I was nervous as HELL, and hadn't it been for the 4-6 beers I had just before, I'd probably have called it off. Finally my track was one, and as the pirate theme kicked in, I emerged from behind the big screen, much to people's surprise. Everyone cheered as I jumped off the stage and fought my way through the hall to the organizers' table, where Gargaj was sitting. I threw one of the two swords to him, and luckily, he played along and fought me. I had written him an email, warning him about what I planned, but didn't get any response, so I was actually quite nervous that he would think it was lame and wouldn't play along. That would have totally ruined the performance. But fortunately, he was a great sport and played along while people cheered. I don't know if people paid much attention to the track, but at the end, I had Gargaj stab me, and I stumbled back on stage, to die a terribly bad theatrical death with one sword firmly clenched under my armpit. It was really fun, but holy cow, I could have shat myself in the seconds before, since I'm normally quite shy. But everything worked out, and people laughed and cheered, so all in all, I think it was a success. And apart from the instrumentation (Quiver was rather new back then, so I wasn't that experienced in creating instruments with it) I really think the theme came across really great. It definitely had this swashbuckling pirate'ish feel to it, and it actually ended up winning the compo.
