This track exploited the compo rules (and the XM format) of the one-sample tracked music competition by basically emulating PCM through extremely high pattern playback speed. Normally, the default tempo of an XM file is capped at 255 BPM in the UI, but since the value is stored as a 16-bit integer in the file, it is possible to set it to a high enough value to be able to emulate low-quality PCM.
