I witnessed the premiere of this demo at SV 2024 SE. It was amazing! Standing ovation, the demo - as the first in the history of this party - was presented as an encore at the request of the audience! It sets a new standard on Atari STE! You have to see it and definitely listen to it - the soundtrack is amazing!
I just like that there are different standards :D other demos have used storage to precalc scenes, like on floppy disk (STNICCC for example, but also for delta-packing 3D on other prods). That's just different tricks. This one is beautifully executed to get around the limitation of not being able to load anything during fullscreen. Also it's not that straightforward to use the HDD since you need to use TOS calls in the middle of your demo.
This demo is beautiful - it was over 6 months in the making. The fact that it requires a hard drive is nothing new - Acid Team is neither the first nor the last group to use such a device on the ST. The demo still runs on Atari STe with 8Mhz, so I'm surprised at the critics. Thanks to HDD, we can, among others: listen to the wonderful sound prepared by the legend/icon from the Polish Atari XL/XE scene - Jakub Husak. I bow from the waist and thank you guys for a great job! <3 See you at the next SV!
Have stayed out of this until now, because imo it's great anyone makes ANYTHING on old platforms, whatever it is.
However, I think calling a release that has no original pixel art or apparently any gfx/design contributions a "new standard" for STe demos is a total smack in the face for all the incredibly talented graphicians out there who are still working on ST. Gfx guys - you're still needed and we love you!!
It's nicely presented with a funny story and great music. Soberly considered... there is not much new effectwise here. Even if it's a HD demo i still like it :)

Is it really a 30MB demo? It clearly opens new possibilities if that's the case.
'New standard'? Let's hope it won't! :-( Just compare what can be done with 2x810kb: 'We Were @' by OXG, that's what I would call a 'standard'.
