Sunflower was formed by Unreal in august 1999, close to a year after his leaving Pulse in 1998. The original members were Unreal, Yoghurt, Camel, Echo, Mrock, Nero, Silver Eagle, Statix and Visualize (all from Pulse) and Frank (from Orange). Their first productions were two demos for the competition at the Polish party Gravity 4 in september; Wonder finished first, and Zilog finished second. After a small while (probably still in september) finnish graphician Visualize was kicked (he later resurfaced in Haujobb), and was replaced with Saffron. The reasons behind this move is uncertain. Danish coder Slyde also joined, though he retains his membership in Blasphemty. In an interview for Replay's december 1999 diskmagazine Shine #6, Mrock and Unreal both promised productions for The Party 99 in december, but come partytime both productions were strangely non-present.
