The Calculus Group were a Canadian BBS programming group who created free tools for the famed PCBoard (PPE) BBS platform.

But they also had an unusual agreement in collaboration with Pirates With Attitudes, who with permission, would repackage the Calculus releases and distribute them throughout the elite BBS scene. Within these Calculus specific releases the PWA.NFO would list The Calculus Programming Team under their US Members.

What is The Calculus Group?

We are a family of PCBoard [PPE] / Coders that when using our joint efforts
attempt to produce quality PCBoard 15.1+ [PPE] and Utils.
We maintain a strict policy to govern how our code(s) is manufactured and
released. This includes, but is not limited to, every coder in our family
devulging all source code to the Founder of Calculus (Dream WEaver) to make
final analysis and to constrict any foul code from being released to the
end user.

How do we distribute?

Simple! We have applied and have been accepted by PWA for the releasing of
our final code. We have found from personal experience that PWA is by far
the best transport for any and all of our efforts, and therefore are pleased
to be a part of their working union. PWA was founded by ORION not all that
long ago and has since become a fast growing, and powerful means of sharing
"try before you buy" software! Our full respect and admiration go out to
PWA!
