A packer or cruncher is a tool for compressing files so that they take up less diskspace. Such tools were extremely popular on the c64, Amiga and MS-DOS platforms, but exist on all popular demoscene platforms.
Time Cruncher (or Timecruncher) was a series of file packers for the c64, originally developed by Matcham/Network, but also several other people created versions with minor or major improvements on his original work. They were in the sequence packer category of packers for the c64.
