In an article for Lancelot2 #11 Space Racer writes that he started from the ground up in 1991 in the 305 area. He befriended a TDT member Stroke who got him in contact with its leader, Hard Core, and from there found an opening into the scene.

SR was the driving force behind the group The Cartel a local group that tried to improve the speed and warez access of the 305 area code. After briefly burning out and taking a break, he came back with Shadow Master and together they joined Phoenix, handling their games division. But after being frustrated at their focus on other areas, he left to join Nexus.
