Online from 1992 until at least early 1997, running fist under PCExpress and then under PCBoard, with a period as an Amiga board with /X in between. In a 1996 interview, the sysop mentioned that Cryptic Slaughter used to be called Pentacle.1 Pentacle was closed in the summer of 1993, as announced in Hijack #3, allegedly because the sysop wanted to use the machine for his personal purposes.2 However, it was relaunched as Cryptic Slaughter already around September 1993.3

Went offline for security reasons in September 1996 according to a statement by the sysop.4

Ran as a distsite for Hybrid in May 1993 (2 nodes).
Ran for Vortex between February and March 1996 (6 nodes), and for Dynasty in May 1996 (6 nodes).
