@tomaes: I think we need some tag cleanup there... we have adlib, opl2 and opl3. Technically adlib should be merged with opl2 (who has an Adlib Gold, anyway ;), which case what you said doesn't really apply. We can automatically redirect the adlib tag so that people stop using both adlib and opl2 as tags.

(and I'm very much in favor of keeping opl2 and opl3 as separate tags because there are so few opl3 gems that I think it makes a lot of sense to make them easier to find.)

Saga: It's tricky. I guess there's no point in using the (technically correct, but unknown) YM(F)xxx chip names instead. Maybe two tags "adlib-opl2" and "adlib-opl3" (as opl3 is just as much Adlib as 2, even though most opl3 support was in cards from Creative etc. and was overall less known and supported)? Technically, there's even opl4, but I think we agree, that that has nothing to do with Adlib as a brand and company anymore. Keeping opl2/3 distinct, I agree with in any case, as there's a big enough feature gulf between them for the different labels to make sense.

(also Adlib Gold cards are surpringly popular among retrogamers etc. ;)

tomaes: I think "OPL2/OPL3" are much easier to distinguish than the chip names with seemingly random numbers that are in no relation to each other, however we can of course automatically redirect the YM* tags to opl2/3 if we want to, to have one set of consistent tags. Same can be done with redirection adlib to opl2, which I think would be the common understanding of adlib (again: who used an Adlib Gold with OPL3? probably noone ;)).

What is best approach to merging duplicates? It seems to be the most common error I find, but I don't know what to do with the remaining IDs after the fact so I don't start. velusip: To merge, we usually move all relevant info over to the valid account, then delete the remaining, empty one. However, we like to be super, 100% sure before we start doing something. "I believe" makes me think it's not a confirmed match, but a hunch - so I would suggest joining our Slack channel and putting it out there. It's amazing how much knowledge exists in the hive mind over there :) We can usually figure stuff out.

music/16074/ is called "Money Invitation" but should be "Money Invation" (even though that's not a word); that's how it appears in the Pouet compo results file. The original PT2 file contains the title "m0n3Y 1nv@t10n" (and the composer Fatal Snipe is spelled "f@7@l $n1p3" in there). Other sites have also misinterpreted it as "Money Invention". But @ stands for the letter a in leetspeak.
