Icing 1996 was held at Vättlehallen in Stenkullen near Gothenburg, Sweden for the PC and Amiga scenes. About 350 people attended; most from the western parts of Sweden, but a few Norwegians also showed up. A cafeteria was open around the clock, with quite reasonable prices. There were a few problems with the delivery of power, and as usual, the party network went down a few times. A few local bands played music on the stage, an arrangement the organisers had to put up with in order to rent the hall. There was no separate raytracing competition, so several traced pictures competed in the graphics competition. Official t-shirts (designed by Duffe/Sardonyx) were sold at the party. The amiga compo machine was an A1200 with an 030 processor running at 50mhz with an unspecified amount of memory. Demos must be max 5mb in size. The pc compo machine was an AMD 486DX4-120mhz with 8mb RAM. Most popular soundcards were available. Competitions were taped to s-video before being shown on the bigscreen.
