Fix me beautiful

tomaes - 19:48 31 July 2017 #

Then again, "multiple" is weird, as there's no reason to believe for somebody searching that this refers to platforms. Unless the search results come in table form, with a platform column. So "var. platforms" or "(.de)"? Also "K2 (1996)" would be possible.

KamikaTze - 20:52 31 July 2017 #

I wow I didn't intended to start such a discussion. But yeah, until now my three arguments for the renaming were

1) Same nomenclature as in puoet (which is sort of a weak argument, but still an argument)
2) The K2(c64) team is still active (1996 - 2017) as the "other" seems to be defunct.
3) The K2(c64) has also historic precedence.

Still I agree that it should be somehow be made clear that is not the only team with that name, no matter how inactive the other team is. So I have really no better proposals.

Naming them K2 (1996) and K2 (1997) will not really help. May be naming them after their founders? K2 (Zed Yago) and K2... oh shot I have no idea who founded the other one.

We may leave this as is right now, but personally "K2 (c64)" irks me every single time I read it.

Saga_Musix - 23:24 31 July 2017 #

Yes, c64 is definitely confusing and I remember that I wanted to clean this up a while ago (but obviously forgot to do it). Would ".de" be an acceptable differentiator from your point of view? It's still not 100% accurate, but it's more accurate than "c64" and it's just as short.

KamikaTze - 07:50 1 August 2017 #

Yeah, "K2 (.de)" would be a better variant that K2 (c64). As far as I know the team was founded in the German city of Karlsruhe, this could also be a way of differentiating them, but I personally deem ".de" as the better alternative.

I guess we want to keep the renaming consistent for both teams, and I have not a single clue about the country of origin for the other team "K2 (pc)", looks like it would be Sweden, but could not find anything on this topic.

tomaes - 08:29 1 August 2017 #

Changed the differentiators to ".de" and ".se" respectively.

KamikaTze - 10:25 1 August 2017 #

@tomanes / @Saga_Music:

Many Thanks, that looks a lot better to me :)

I have a an proposal, but I'm not sure how common is the problem if clashing team names:

Proposal: To introduce a section in the group pages which becomes only visible when data is present for "Other teams with the same name" and there you can cross link them.

Saga_Musix - 13:00 1 August 2017 #

I don't think it's really necessary but if you think it's a good idea, you should post it on Github (https://github.com/demozoo/demozoo/issues) with a nice description so that it doesn't get lost in this thread. :)

I want to delete the "Other (design)" part of Organic's credit, but can't. Don't know why it's not working. :/

Same here. Gasman to the rescue. :)

Hi. Abduction 1997 party entry https://demozoo.org/parties/402/ has some weird stuff in its description, claims that there were no invitations (there were two). Also the listed dates were wrong (5.-6th of June), fixed those myself, but the mention about "some sources" claiming it having been 6-8th remains. 6.-8 of June are the correct days, and since those were a weekend, and I distinctly remember it having been a weekend ;)

tomaes - 07:46 8 August 2017 #

ccr: I edited the description. Should be fixed now. :)

ccr - 19:33 9 August 2017 #

Did some detective work and got in contact with Detoo/MindProbe on IRC ( https://demozoo.org/sceners/73681/ ), and it turns out he was also Jachain/Amorphous ( https://demozoo.org/sceners/21537/ ). This can also be confirmed from real names found from information files in certain prods, for example https://demozoo.org/productions/140863/ and https://demozoo.org/productions/159463/

So, I think Jachain entry should be merged to Detoo.

ccr - 22:08 9 August 2017 #

"Core Team" https://demozoo.org/groups/24202/ is actually "Core" (.pl) https://demozoo.org/groups/25899/ and had only one prod, so I re-attributed it. The former can be deleted.

Though I am not sure if "Core Team" should be added as alternative name as it is written as such in the party results file .. ?

ccr - 22:11 9 August 2017 #

It should be noted that the one prod ( https://demozoo.org/productions/37228/ ) uses only plain "Core", not "Core Team" in the demo itself and in the infofile.

ccr - 00:32 10 August 2017 #

https://demozoo.org/groups/22214/ was a dupe of https://demozoo.org/groups/24204/, please delete the former.

Saga_Musix - 17:26 12 August 2017 #

All done!

FlashyLamer - 20:05 17 August 2017 #

this prod actually have 3 endings

menace - 20:09 17 August 2017 #

FlashyLamer: Cool trivia, but what needs to be fixed about that?

tomaes - 20:19 17 August 2017 #

Mhmm, possible. ;) I can't run the exe atm. Only 2 endings are mentioned online. So, a screenshot would be nice.

tomaes - 20:20 17 August 2017 #

menace: "Two" in the info text -> "Three" :)

It's a dupe of https://demozoo.org/productions/127443/

this https://demozoo.org/parties/3237/ should be connected with this: https://demozoo.org/parties/series/893/ . I don't know how to fix it.

Saga_Musix - 13:10 17 September 2017 #

Yeah, I just noticed it myself. Already fixed.

https://media.demozoo.org/screens/o/3f/da/0c63.146799.jpg (on https://demozoo.org/productions/177513/ ) - bad quality of screen.

Also... what about adding "Shadertoy" to supported links at prods instead standart "WWW"?

menace - 06:26 24 September 2017 #

100bit: Agreed, I nuked the one with the inferior quality/resolution.

As for adding shadertoy as a recognized link, feel free to make an issue for that on our Github and we'll see if any of the devs pick it up :)

tomaes - 06:37 24 September 2017 #

Or better not. I added said issue months ago :) https://github.com/demozoo/demozoo/issues/282

menace - 07:01 26 September 2017 #

tomaes: Yay for being more awake than I am :)

100bit: So, yeah, use that issue instead. It's allowed to gently push the agenda of any given issue by giving useful input on the issue. More activity = more likely to get developer attention.

FlashyLamer - 22:22 27 September 2017 #

add real name "seth peelle" to https://demozoo.org/sceners/45486/

menace - 06:35 28 September 2017 #

FlashyLamer: We try to be smart about including real names, and only do that in cases where the person is clearly ok with having the demoscene persona associated with their real name, e.g. they have a current active twitter account that ties the two together. Unfortunately, we do not see any evidence of that here, so we're going to hold off on this person's identity.

We are sort-of, slowly, working on a page that explains some of our philosophies and standard practices, and "why we do things the way we do" - https://demozoo.org/pages/demozoo-standards-and-practices/

Feel free to provide feedback for that, if you find something we should clarify our stance on.
