D-Tect was formed in january of 1989 on the ashes of The Mysterious Team (at least Tom, Chris and Terminator) as a German and Swiss Amiga demo group. In may the group lost its three Swiss members, who left to form a new group, making them a purely German group. Also in may, the group Dealer Soft (located in Murrhardt near Stuttgart, Germany) was recruited into the D-Tect family. This group consisted of McDeal, Cougar, Agent, Ace and Harry. The middle of june saw the group taking some joint duties on arranging the Shooting Stars Party 1989, held at an old castle near Lörrach, Germany. Cracker Journal 15 (july 1989) reported, "Chris of D-Tect was caught by the police. They found 400 disks and some swiss-addresses. Don't write longer to the PLK. Swappers Charly and Snowman were recruited to the group in august. More people came into the group in the following months; X-Act (graphics), Spider, Ferris, Twisted, Dave and finally Fletch (from Tarkus Team). At the start of december the group once again collaborated with another group on arranging a party; the Brainstorm/D-Tect party was held at the same old castle location as the first. The year ended with a little housecleaning where X-Act, Ace, Chris and Terminator were kicked out for not contributing.
November was a busy month, with first the release of Depeche Code followed closely by the second issue of Hack-Mag. The mag announced that the group needed more coders, since only Agent and McDeal were coding. It also announced two new members, Mr. Megaforce in Canada (about to open a board) and their first modemtrader, Rockford (aka RCF) in Germany.
The february 1992 diskmagazine R.A.W 2 reported that Yankee had left the group he helped form, Addonic, to join D-Tect.
