The Dominators were a Danish-based C64, Amiga and eventually PC demo and cracking group, active between 1987-1996. They were formed as a merger of the groups The Infiltrators and Danish Import Team and initial members were Tron, Viking, Matrix, TBC, Lizard, Dragon, Cosmo and Pink Panther.1
In july, news came that the group had kicked out 8 members for inactivity, and only X-Zaw, Matrix, Viking, Zoolook, Warfreak and Cosmo remained. In november, Danes Parsec, Spirit, Cosmo and Pinky all left the group to form Danish Demo Design, a group which never released anything. It appears Cosmo later returned to The Dominators.
They were reinforced with the entire group Wizax in november 1988.
Business 3 (1989) reported that Night-Orc had joined the group. News On Disk 1 (august 1989) reported, "DEMOLITION IS NOW IN DOMINATORS." Mamba 1 (october 1989) reported Mitch had joined Dominators. Nemesis left for Talent, and thus became part of the newly born Ikari and Talent cooperation, in december.
Early in 1990, Stanz left the group, since he knew there were plans to kick him. He first joined Rizing but soon moved on to his old group Zeropage. Macro-Nit left the group due to problems with Dogfriend early in the year. Intros from november of 1990 saw Dogfriend announcing his leaving the group. He returned the following year. Sex'n'Crime 21 in december reported that after Macro-Nit rejoined the group from Nato.
It was reported in january 1991 that Gene had joined from Illusion23, that Fox joined from Bonzai as well as Tecon leaving for Bonzai.3 The early part of 1991 saw the recruitment of Danish cracker Duke from Ikari+Talent and the reappearance of cracker Dogfriend! Dutch graphician TTT/Actual Trading Generation also joined this year, under his new handle Grizzly Adams. In december, no less than four crackers left the group to form Deadline. They were; Derbyshire Ram, NME, Rebel and Icecube.
Early in 1992, Macro-Nit was dismissed from the group, and would continue on the pc platform. Member status on 28th february 19924 was Zoolook, Rooze, Dogfriend, Animal, Silent, Cosmo, Duke, J.Daniels, Hulkster, Deff, Twist and Narcissus. Danish swapper Bishop first appeared on the memberlist in march. In American news, Narcissus renamed back to Slayer and Mutant-X joined from importing partner Avatar when that group died in march. Also in march, Duke was arrested by the police, and charged with fraud. All his computer equipment and his disks were confiscated. Duke left Dominators in may of 1992, and formed Gridpoint Developments.
Twist joined Trance, while Janec decided to take a break in may 1993. Finnish cracker Rockstar left for Talent around june. Idol joined Pandora in july. Dishy (supply, ex Chromance) left for Fairlight in august. The whole group finally died around august or september, as a result of a declining ability to produce cracks. Almost 1/3rd of the group's members joined the army around this time, and most of the remaining members formed Dominators on the pc. Danish sysop Tricket left Dominators for Visual Reality with his board Dominic around september of 1993, though he remains in Dominators on the pc.
Championship Manager 2 German League Cracktro (december 1995) announced, "We are sad to announce that Morbid Angel has decided to close down Quadrillion. The position as Dominators european HQ is therefore now available to a qualified sysop.", and continued to list Animal, Dogfriend, Drake (seniors), Candyman, Cosmo, Hewitt, Jihad, Madmax, Magic, Metallian, Morbid Angel, Motion Man, Radar, Rooze, Sir John, The Brain, Hooligan and Toxic as members at that time.
There was an attempt to return the name in mid-1997 but it is not sure if this was legitimate.
