Hotline (originally Hotline 9009, but they lost the numeral pretty quickly), were a Dutch cracking group born in august 1986 under the leadership of Sledgehammer. They were a truly multiplatform group, making releases on the C-64, Amiga and Atari ST scenes. They eventually grew sections in Germany and England, and were among the biggest early cracking groups.
Legend of Kage (dec 10 1986) came with an instructions file that listed Sledgehammer, ACS, The Young Blood, The New Wave International, Bono, Eddy The Artist, Game Freak, PAM, Skywalker and Rick as members.
The group was voted #2 cracker group of the month in Illegal 18 (july 1987), then #1 in Illegal 19 (august 1987). In the September 1st, 1987 cracktro for Mega Apocalypse, Popeye wrote "I am back active once again on the c64", suggesting he had had a sort of break. German cracker Coco Industries 2011 left to form Actual Cracking Entertainment in september.
Marc joined from Sphinx around september 1989. Ream (code supply) and Seal joined towards the end of the year, though Seal left for The Ruling Company after a month or two. Rico returned to the scene in december. Englishmen Bod and XXX left to form a new group called Talent, some time between may of this year and early next year.
3030 and Dynamo were both kicked late may 1990. The Silver Surfer returned to the scene in september!
Uncle X joined from Paragon in december 1991.
The group finally died on the 1st of january 1992. Dutch coder and supplier Ream left for Triad. Dutch member Rob left for Legend. Sid rejoined F4CG.
Sysop Ratman (KINGDOM OF RATS) joined Epic in early 1993.
