Shining 8 was a c64 and Amiga cracking and demo group, formed in 1987 by Trashcan, Romrunner, Devil, Paco, Scum, Fletch, Dark Force, Stet and Reptil. Other members that joined in 1988 were Brandis, ECR Networks, Napalm, Exorcist, Sledge and Rap. This bio is based on information from the Shining 8 homepage.

The september 1988 crack intro for Hot Shot listed Dark Force, Romrunner, Trashcan, Stet, Devil, Ray, Reptil, Crash, Scum, Paco, E.C.R, Fletch and R.O.D as members at that time. In the demo On Tour..., presumably released around the same time, a new memberlist had dropped Stet and Ray, and introduced Stedsasonic and TBF.

The group arranged the Shining 8 Eastern Party 1992 in april. Also in april, Napalm released the tool Coder Help System V1.0. Maggy 12 (june 1992) reported, "Steve/ex Flash productions joined to Shining 8".

Shining 8 were reborn as an Amiga cracking group, active at least in 1994 and 95, and made quite a few releases. After an argument between the two leaders, Satan (one of the two) left the group with Maniac, Chaos and Blue, and joined Scoopex (see news file that came with Infestation 13 (july 1995)). With this, Shining 8 finally died for good on the Amiga.
