Enlight 1997 was held on the premises of the Baltic State Technical University in St. Petersburg, Russia by Realm of Illusion and K° for the ZX Sectrum, C64, Amiga and PC scenes. The party had between 1200 and 1600 visitors.1 Apart from visitors from all over the Russian Federation, the party had visitors from Ukraine, Moldova, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus and Uzbekistan.2
The second day of this two-day party was cancelled because of unruly behaviour and vandalism committed by some of the visitors on the first day (including drinking indoors despite a ban on alcohol, spraying graffiti, causing power outages, and one drunken scener sporting a pneumatic gun inside the hall), thus the PC and Amiga compos scheduled for the second day were not held and no results were produced. 3 Visitors who came back on the second day and found the hall closed moved to a nearby park, where they went on to drink alcohol, play football and climb on trees. After police officers had been told off in rude terms, riot police arrived and arrested many people. 4
