Black Monks was a German-based Amiga cracking group, formed in february of 1989 when Black Division and Mad Monks joined forces under the new name Black Monks, along with members of Demokillers, Sunriders and Styx. They were were originally about 20 members. Their first release was the crack for Galdregon's Domain (source: Cracker Journal 13 news and Cracker Journal 14 interview). The scroller in that release read, "A new cooperation between The Black Division and The Mad Monks! It's called: Black Monks".
Cracker Journal 14 (may 1989) reported "One member of Black Monks was visited by the police. They found only 30 Disks and not much addresses." Cracker Journal 15 (july 1989) followed up, "One member of Black Monks was caught at the post." It also featured a swapper advert, listing a PLK in Munich, Germany. Cracker Journal 16 (october 1989) reported, "Genesis left Alpha Flight and joined Black Monks." Swapper advert in Cracker Journal 16 (october 1989), listing an address in Fauske, Norway. German graphician Dark joined from Alpha Flight in late 1989.
The february 1992 diskmagazine R.A.W 2 reported that the group was back, with a total of 11 members - new and previous - listing Kamikaze, Pete, Moses, Rain, Claw and Willow. The advert section in the same magazine also featured an advert, listing a PLK in Aichwald, Germany for contact. They were c-organizers of Possessed and Black Monks Party 1992 in october. A text file was spread in november that same year, proclaiming the group was dead again.
