The Gathering 1996 was held at Vikingskipet in Hamar, Norway by The Crusaders. It was the 5th The Gathering party, and the 1st at this location. Hamar became its steady location from this year on. After the disastrous 95 edition, the original organizing team returned. This was also the first year there was an internet connection for the entire party.

Invitations were published in Bad News 4 (april 1996).

Reports appeared in the diskmagazines Showtime 2 (april 1996) and Flash #1 (may 1996).

Results based on results.txt from scene.org. Results are presented here as they appeared in the original file, complete with all the stuff that makes no sense - like the order of the placements in the Fastintro competition. The results also omitted graphics and music competitions, since those were anonymous.
