International Network of Crackers (INC) was one of the premier cracking/releasing warez groups for the IBM PC during the early 1990s. Biography adapted from Wikipedia entry, as it stood on January 19th, 2020, and memberlist according to inc0393.nfo.
Well here it is! Block Out, INC's First Crack. In case you havent found out yet, INC is made up of MCM, ECA, and NYC. All of those groups do not exist anymore. We are still in transition, but many cracks should be out soon. Watch out other groups, here INC comes.
(Organizer of INC)
The formation of INC was the result of the merger of several cracking groups, including Union, based out of Texas, and the Miami Cracking Machine (MCM), based out of Florida. The founder of MCM, who went under the pseudonym Line Noise, continued to manage INC until 1992. Following his departure from the group, Cool Hand and The Cracksmith took over. There were a few years in which the group seemed dominant over the "warez" scene. It was not until internal conflicts and lack of interest by upper management entered the picture that things began to decline. When Cool Hand and The Cracksmith disappeared, the remaining members were unable to hold things together.
Conflict: Europe (february 1990) came with the file README.INC, which wrote; "Well this looks like it is the last european import from Norway by the Jammer. He has quit INC to join The Humble Guys. I have only one thing to say to THG. "Now we are gonna break out the heavy artilliarry"." The release also listed Line Noise, Black Flag, Data Detective, Lord Michael, Captain Crunch, Mega Man, The Crusher, Mr. Clean, Lord Miciam, The Timelord, R. Bubba Magillicutty, Mind Storm, Time Lord, The Oxidizer, Freddy Kruger, Ancient One, The Gunslinger, The Prisoner, Megaton Man, The Jammer and Silicon Mage as members at that time.
World Class Rugby Union (2 may 1992) came with an nfo that welcomed Juve Rehab as a new site to the group, and Dune Trainer on the same day wrote "We would like to welcome aboard the INC Trainer Team Rifleman and Patch." Indiana Jones 4: Fate of Atlantis Cracktro (november 1992) reported in its nfo; "I'd like to greet MidNite Oil III as the new INC World HQ!"
The real identities of the key members have never been fully uncovered, but it has been reported that the founding members, Line Noise, The Cracksmith, and Cool Hand have left the scene. Releases from INC aggressively declined and people within the scene generally had felt that INC lost its edge. During a one-year period, they went from being the top gaming software release group to barely memorable. Some of the best games of the 80s and 90s were released by INC during a period of stiff competition with groups like FLT, THG, and Razor 1911. By early 1994, INC had completely disappeared from the warez scene.
They are considered disbanded, having not made any releases since 1994.
