Legend (often subtitled with their slogan The Will of God) was an international, multi-platform cracking group. They started out on the c64, and later expanded to the Amiga (in 1990), consoles and the pc.
Legend were present at the PCW Show in London in september 1988, where PWP and Goldfish even released a crack. Wave and Flaoman joined from Orion in december.
Arrogance 'and others' (presumably at least Pyle) joined from Success in july of 1990. Argon left the group to rebuild Success around august. In august, German cracker Pyle (ex Success) left for Crazy. However, the group was heavily reinforced in the same month when cracker Antitrack joined with Big Ben from the disbanded Cosmos Design. Arrogance was kicked around september. They moved onto the Amiga platform around september 1990 by recruiting former key members of the illegal section of Vision. Panic Zone, Turk 51 Zone, Twins BBS, Melmac BBS and Defcon 5 all became Legend boards as a result. The early december release Ranx +5 announced N.S.C, Kreator and Pinhead having joined Legend from Testament. The december 1990 diskmagazine Internal 2 revealed that Ziggy had left Legend for WOW.
Internal #3 (january 1991) reported rumours that Narc had been kicked. Brainkiller was busted by British Telecom for phreaking in january, and was asked to pay a large fine, but will not stop trading. Belgian swapper Glasnost joined from Transcom, also in january, and soon changed his handle to Thunderstruck. Danish trio Doc, Fletch and Excell joined from Ikari in january, so it was certainly an eventful month for the group! They were in importing partnership with NEI in december.
Rob joined from the newly-dead Hotline in january 1992. The Basilisk (sysop of Gee Spot) left the group around february, and will run the board independently from now on. Released cracks already fixed by NEI with a common intro in june. Maggy 12 (june 1992) reported, "Al left Legend to join Goonies". European Top 20 1 (july 1992) reported that Jardin was a new member. The october demo Paroxysm welcomed Fox and Risk from Gravce to the group. It also mentions several members of Origin that joined, but does not identify them.
Mirage joined Focus in early 1993. Germans Hok and A-Man joined from Arcade, Queen joined from Paradize, Darklord joined from Illusion, Lexi (crack sysop) joined from Device (or Fairlight?), while Delta was kicked and original supplier Bionomix left in may. Westbam got upset about something or other around june, and subsequently kicked A-Man, Hok, Darklord and Lexi! Lexi returned to Fairlight, Darklord is undecided about his further steps - he might leave the scene, or possibly join Red Sector Inc... A-Man (Steven Diemer, music) and Hok's further careers are unknown at this time. Cracker Rebel joined in august after getting kicked out of Illusion. Chippy Town 1 (september 1993) reported that Casket left Legend for Damones. Danish cracking legends Doc and Fletch decided to finally leave the c64 scene in october, to seek greener pastures on the pc.
The july 1994 nfo for the pc release Heimdall II [+2] Trainer (can be viewed on textfiles.com or defacto2) listed Butcher, Cobra, Fletch, Doc, Hoppermania, Janno, Liquid Khaos, Merlin, Niko, Malcom, Nitro, Razor, Heavy Metal, Rotor, Snacky, Stubborn, Tazman, The Maverick, The French Mate, Troll, Troops, Westbam and Wolverine as active members. September c64 news told of crackers Powerplant and Rebel attending university in the usa, and not being able to work much for the group, and that despite rumours to the contrary, supplier Atmos is still a Legend member. They lost THE SHAOLIN TEMPLE (which joined as a whq in november 1992) this month.
Legend returned to the c64 scene in 1997, and put up the first ever internet-bbs for the c64 (their WHQ Second To None), using custom-coded software (QCBBS) by Uncled/Legend. They promised releases, but by christmas that same year nothing had yet appeared.
