The Silents were originally a Swedish c64 group, formed around the spring of 1987 by Benny-Hill (later Atom, much later Jedi), Axel F. (later Icon), Utopia, Dezed, Snokie, Mawda (later Zike), Dino and Woody. Most original members came from the dead group XL-Crackers (XLC). The very first release was "Enigma Writer", followed by several music rips from Snokie and Woody. The group eventually rose to prominence on the Amiga platform.
They were a subgroup of Actual Cracking Entertainment for a few days in february 1988. The group co-organized The Silents and Stage 3 Party 1988 in april.
The active part of the french group Concept, Performer, NHP, BKH, Rookie and Ronan joined together with fellow frenchmen Walt and Motif to form a French section. Their first production was the trackmo Ice at the end of june, followed by Intro? Dentro? Mentro? Demo? in august, announcing Conquest, Surfer and Zoom as new members of the group. Following that release, Walt and Motif left for Alliance Design (reported in R.A.W 2 that following february). Sunjohn left for Anarchy sometime between the release of Rex Polyhedron in september and when it was reported in the diskmagazine R.A.W 1 in november. A Norwegian section was formed in november. TMB Designs joined after just one month in Kefrens, due to the bad internal organizing and being accused of digitizing his graphics! Towards the end of the year, germans Bass (gfx music) and Barock (code) joined from Splash to create the subgroup No Soul Produkktions. The december release Cyberdyne BBS Intro announced a new bbs called Cyberdyne in Sweden, with Rizzo as the sysop (later reported in R.A.W 2 in february). The december release French Section Is Now Dead was released about a week before christmas, announcing that Audiomonster, BKH, Conquest, NHP, Performer, Ronan, Rookie, Surfer and Zoom had all left The Silents France and joined Anarchy.
R.A.W 2 (february 1992) reported that the newly formed Norwegian division lost most of its members, as Rob and Timewalker left for Offence, and Phonebilly (sysop Elegant Machinery) left for Fairlight; that a new UK division was started by T.A.S, Saint, Aero, Engineer, Slash (opening the bbs Ghost at the same time), LILS, MFD, Fobia, Abyss and Vored Computator; that Regent left with his board The Crime Zone to be independent; and finally that Jake had left the group. European Top 20 1 (july 1992) reported that Hof left Atlantys for The Silents just before the Easter Conference 1992 in april, where he won the graphics competition as a member of The Silents. The same magazine further reported that Static/Rebels also joined the group, that Chrome left left for Interface and that Name had changed his handle to Mark. TMB Designs left for Spaceballs at The Party 1992 in december.
Upstream 1 (january 1993) reported Crime, Pioneer and Two Flower (previously Survivor) left The Silents for Addonic. Maggy 12 (june 1992) had previously reported Survivor had left the scene. Swedish coders Spirou and Cuddley both joined the group from Aurora in february of 1993, a fact that was announced in the intro Hybrid Glenz later that month. The same intro also announced several more new members; Angel Dawn, Autopsy, Joker and Maddox. The group was coarranger of The Computer Crossroads 1993 in may. Talented swedes Lizardking (music) and Tony (gfx) both left to help form the new Razor 1911 in december. Chippy Town 1 (september 1993) reported that Xann had joined Ozone from The Silents. At the end of december, the group was one of the groups arranging The Party 1993.
The Silents were listed as one of three organizer groups of The Party 1994 in december of that year.
