Spaceballs is a Norwegian-based Amiga demo group, originally formed by Dark Helmet on his own in 1988. In the following two years, he slowly recruited members from his home town of Halden. Lone Starr was the first recruit in 1988, the younger brother of a schoolmate of Dark Helmet's from Østfold Ingeniørhøgskole.
During 1989 more members were recruited, and Major Asshole, Defender (later President Screw) and Yoghurt all joined up with the group.
The group travelled to attend the Amega Party 1991 in june, and brought with them the demo Spasmolytic, finishing 5th in the competition. The december 1991 Members Intro contained a complete memberlist, which listed Lone Starr, Dark Helmet, President Screw, Major Asshole, Sator (who was a member of Shade back in june when he contributed to Spasmolytic), Babar, Yoghurt, Vinnie, Zakka and Nick.
R.A.W 2 (february 1992) reported that Madcap joined from Palace. Scott joined from Addonic in the first half of this year. European Top 20 1 (july 1992) reported that Zak/Addonic changed his handle to Scott and joined Spaceballs. TMB Designs joined from The Silents at The Party 1992 in december.
At The Gathering 1993 in late april, the group recruited the producers of the diskmagazine R.A.W (Lord Helmet, Perplex and Kingpin). Not long after, likely early may, R.A.W 5 was released, featuring a Spaceballs intro, and announcing the membership change. At the end of december, the group was one of the groups arranging The Party 1993.
Spaceballs were listed as one of three organizer groups of The Party 1994 in december of that year.
Upstream 10 (february 1995) reported Messiah/Balance^Banana Dezign joined, that D-Zire joined, that Exterior changed his handle to Roadster, that Christian Mæland joined, and finally that Jive is no longer considered a member. Spaceballs were co-organizers of The Gathering 1995 in april.
The april 1998 Endzeit intro srorriM came with an info file announcing Zack had left Spaceballs for Endzeit.
